Before you bring a new puppy home, you’ll need to prepare your house. Young dogs seem to get into anything and
everything within reach, and if you’re not prepared, their curiosity could prove dangerous.
Start by looking at your house the way a dog would see it. Look down low for items that could be hazardous, such as trash, electrical wires, and sharp objects. Also make sure to keep pesticides, antifreeze, and all other chemicals out of reach. Storing these dangerous items
in a locked cabinet is the best idea. Some houseplants can also prove poisonous to pets, so keep them high. And remember, no matter how well you think you’ve puppy-proofed your home, you should still keep a close eye on your new dog.
